It's just me against myself. When you see me close my eyes in the middle of a workout this weekend, this is where I am taking myself. My backyard. No music, no crowds, no pressure. Just me doing what I love! Not because it will bring me followers on Instagram, or sponsors, or a level of acceptance because I'm a "Games" athlete. But because I truly love CrossFit. Plain and simple. See everyone in a couple days!

MENTALITY WORK OF THE DAY= Know the difference.
.
It’s imperative that you learn how to communicate whatever it is that you’re feeling angry, sad, frustrated or anxious about. If you’re not exactly sure what’s bothering you, you can talk it out and brainstorm to figure it out. This process helps you become more aware and less stressed. You’ll be better at managing your emotions and navigating them so that you can hit your goals.
.
I know people who don’t want to seem like they are complaining, so they don’t ever say what’s really on their mind because they don’t want to sound “negative,” but, that’s not such a great idea.
.
I know others who almost always have something to bitch about, yet they never really seem to be working to solve anything, and that’s not such a great tendency either.
.
Sharing your struggles is one of the most cathartic things you can do.
.
Complaining, on the other hand, is one of the most detrimental and unhealthy habits out there. There’s a big difference between the two, don’t ya think?
.
For the ways these are different, click on the link http://mentalitywod.com/11870/the-difference-between-bitching-sharing-your-struggles/
.
How is your mood different when you’re venting versus complaining? Your tone, your body language your facial expressions? What do you think the biggest difference is? Which do you do more often?
.
Can you do a better job of making sure you’re NOT frequently complaining, but you ARE regularly sharing your struggles?
.
What do you think? Comment below.

During tough times, you might start to question things, and feel down, pissed off, negative or confused. I think that it’s healthy and good to feel all emotions, but, it’s important that you know how to bounce back. When you start asking yourself (or others) questions, make sure that you’re phrasing them in a positive, present-tense, so that you can begin to feel better about your situation.

Here’s what I mean

Instead of: “Why me?” “Why did I?” “Why didn’t he” “Why not them?” “What if my doubts and fears were right?“

Swap those questions out with: “How can I grow from this?” “What can I improve on in my life? “How can I become a better person because of this?” “What can I do to stay calm?” “What do I have to look forward to?”

The questions you ask yourself, will help determine the answers and thoughts that you have. Improve the way you phrase things, and you’ll improve your total outlook.

The outcome of anything...an event, your day, a meeting...is dependent on your outlook.

Decide beforehand that you're going to make the best of it, no matter what & Make a plan for HOW you're going to do that.
Decide beforehand that you're going to enjoy yourself and be successful because you will grow, adapt and fight.

For more tips on this, click the link in profile ☝🏼️ All ya gotta do is make the damn choice to change your outlook.

“I know what to eat”

“I know I should follow that program”

“I know that I need to practice that more”

“Yea, I know”

How often are you saying these things? You feel like you know what would work, but you haven’t committed yourself to taking action. As a coach, I hear these responses all the time when I suggest a particular training program or way of eating.

What is something that you know you want to do, but you haven’t tried yet? What could you change or improve this week? What have you been talking about doing, but you haven’t committed to?

The only way to really KNOW anything is to try it for at least 30 days. No excuses. Don’t alter the program or make changes, just commit to it. Once you’ve tried and learned…then you can say you “know”, at least a little more.

You know you can’t make it to the full hour workout today, so you do nothing instead.

You believe that you don’t have time to meditate or take 30 minutes of quiet time, so you don’t take any at all.

You can’t commit to 100% clean eating for a month, so you keep eating unhealthy foods throughout your week.

You don’t have time to work on butterfly pull-ups 3x a week like your coach wants you to, so you keep putting it off.

Have you ever been there? Where you don’t freaking have time to do it how you want to (or planned to), so you simply don’t commit to anything.

“I should work on mobility more.”

“I should prep my food for the week.”

“I really should take a few days off.”

“I know, I know… I shouldn’t be so negative”

What do you really mean when you say “should?”

READ THIS ONE & STOP USING THAT WORD

If you keep focusing on how hard it’s going to be, how much it sucks, how you hate the rep scheme, or how you might not be able to get through it…you’re making the workout that much tougher.

IF you can change your focus, and continue to try to look at things more positively, you’ll probably do a lot better.

Mentality Work of Thr Day: Claim an inner victory in your next WOD.
.
Unfortunately, we can’t control if we win or lose. I bet if we could, well there would be no losing. There would be no letdowns or mistakes, failures or setbacks. We’d always come out on top, we’d always perform up to our expectations. Shit, that would be awesome right?
.
So, since you can’t control whether you win or lose, would you benefit from focusing on something else?
.
Throughout any competition, event, or workout, you have defining moments.
.
Moments of struggle, doubt, hesitancy, frustration, surprise or fatigue. Your plan isn’t going exactly how you imagined, or you aren’t doing as well as you thought you would. You have these little battles going on inside of your head that NO ONE ELSE knows about. These battles are opportunities. You get to make a choice.
.
Instead of focusing on winning, focus on claiming inner victories; the little wins that only you will know about. Focus on being perseverant, courageous and adaptable. Claim as many inner victories as you can, and you’ll set yourself up for more PRs, more breakthroughs, more growth, more awards and constant improvement.
.
PS ➡️You'll end up winning more often.
.
